Our Studio

Opal Images is a full service photography and retouching studio, specializing in ecommerce and commercial branding imagery. We are based in Portland, OR, but because of our unique decentralized model we can travel anywhere to accommodate our client’s particular needs. Before the pandemic hit, we were noticing that the traditional studio model wasn’t really working for most clients. Once the pandemic was in full swing, the problems with the old studio model only became worse. The old way tries to squeeze the needs of multinational corporations, regional companies, and start-ups all into the same literal and metaphorical space. This means that larger companies have to spread out their image production over several different studios, risking inconsistencies and also courting project management nightmares. Smaller companies get priced out because they can’t afford to cover the overhead costs most studios have to charge in order to be able to accommodate the needs of large companies.

We’ve reimagined what a photography and retouching studio can look like. We center the needs of each client’s individual project and scale up or down depending on the particularities of that project. This means our clients can get the specialized attention their singular projects deserve, without having to subsidize the demands of other companies.
